I’m really excited about my latest smart home project, and I wanted to share my setup and a question I have about optimizing it further. I’ve been working on integrating my garage door control and smoke alarm system using a Mimolite controller, and while I’ve made some progress, I’m hitting a bit of a snag with the smoke alarm alerts. Here’s what I’ve done so far and where I could use some help!
I’ve wired my garage door opener to the Mimolite using the COM1 and NO1 terminals. It’s working perfectly for controlling the door—opening, closing, and stopping on demand. I also have a Kidde smoke alarm (model SM120X) that I’ve connected to the COM1 and NC1 terminals on the Mimolite. The idea is that if the smoke alarm sounds, the Mimolite should trigger an alert, perhaps through my smart home system or a notification on my phone.
Here’s where I’m stuck: I’m not entirely sure how to configure the Mimolite to send an alert when the NC1 terminal is triggered by the smoke alarm. I’ve read through the documentation and some forums, but I’m not finding a clear step-by-step guide for this specific setup. I know the Mimolite is capable of handling this, but I need some guidance on the exact settings or scripts I might need to implement.
On the plus side, the garage door control has been a huge convenience. Being able to open and close the door remotely or set it to close automatically after a certain period has really streamlined my routine. I’m also thrilled about the potential of integrating the smoke alarm into my smart home system. It would give me peace of mind knowing that any smoke detected would immediately alert me, even if I’m not at home.
If anyone has experience with similar setups or knows how to configure the Mimolite for smoke alarm alerts, I’d love to hear your tips or advice! It would be awesome to connect with others who have tackled this kind of project and learn from their experiences. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer—I’m really looking forward to making this integration work smoothly!
