Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent success with integrating my GoControl Opener with the ‘Smart Garage Opener’ feature. As a new member to the SmartThings community, I’ve been exploring ways to enhance my home automation setup, and this project was both challenging and rewarding.
Initially, I faced issues with the GoControl Opener not operating with my newer garage door opener. After some research, I came across a clever workaround involving a visor control opener. By soldering the wires from the GoControl to the visor remote, I was able to bypass the compatibility issues. It’s a simple hack that required some basic electronics knowledge, but the result was seamless integration!
Here’s a quick recap of my setup:
- I opened the visor remote and located the button programmed for the garage door.
- I soldered the GoControl wires to this button.
- I placed the modified visor remote alongside the GoControl unit near my garage.
This setup not only works perfectly but also allows me to control my garage door remotely. It’s amazing how a little creativity can solve such problems.
