Integrating Google Assistant with Enterprise Accounts: A Smooth Experience?

Hi everyone, I’m reaching out to share my experience and gather some insights regarding the integration of Google Assistant with Home Assistant using an enterprise Google account. As many of us are aware, Google Assistant is a fantastic tool, but I’ve encountered some challenges that I’d like to explore further.

I’ve been using Home Assistant alongside Google Assistant devices for a while now, and it’s been a great setup. However, I recently switched to using my own domain email (not a @gmail.com account) for these devices, specifically an older Google Enterprise account with a few free email addresses. While this setup works for basic functionalities, I’ve noticed that certain integrations, like calendar access from Google Home devices, don’t seem to function as expected.

I’m curious to know if others have faced similar issues. Is this a known limitation when using enterprise accounts with Google Assistant? Does switching to a personal Gmail account resolve these problems, or is there a workaround that allows me to keep using my enterprise account? Additionally, I’m wondering if the Home Assistant Cloud solution can help bypass these restrictions. Any insights or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

On a positive note, I’ve found that the integration works smoothly for most day-to-day tasks, and the convenience of voice control is unmatched. It’s just these specific features that I’m hoping to get working properly. I’m excited to hear from the community and learn how others have navigated this situation. Let’s keep the discussion flowing and help each other optimize our smart home setups!

Best regards,
Rob
