Integrating Google Calendar and Alexa: A Smooth Experience

Hi everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience integrating Google Calendar and Alexa into my smart home setup. It’s been a journey, but the result has been absolutely worth it!

First, I started with Google Calendar. I had it working perfectly for years, but recently I decided to clean up my Google Developer Console projects. Unfortunately, this led to my calendars breaking. The error message was clear: ‘deleted_client: The OAuth client was deleted.’ I panicked a bit, but after some research, I figured out that I needed to create a new project, generate new OAuth credentials, and update my Home Assistant configuration. I also had to delete the old token file and let it regenerate. It worked like magic! Now, my calendar integration is back to its best.

Then, I moved on to Alexa. I’ve always loved the idea of controlling my smart devices with voice commands, but setting it up with my Fire TV stick was a bit tricky at first. I kept getting connection errors when trying to link Alexa to my Wyze camera. After some trial and error, I realized that the issue was with the network configuration. Once I ensured that all devices were on the same network and double-checked the settings, everything fell into place. Now, I can say, ‘Alexa, show the front door,’ and it works seamlessly!

What’s been most impressive is how these integrations have streamlined my daily routine. I no longer need to pull out my phone to check my schedule or adjust the lights—I just ask Alexa. It’s little moments like these that make me grateful for how far smart home technology has come.

If anyone else is struggling with similar integrations, I’d be happy to share more tips or troubleshoot together. Let’s keep the community growing and supporting each other!
