Hey everyone! I just wanted to share my experience integrating my Google Home Hub with SmartThings. At first, I was a bit puzzled because while the Hub could see all my devices, they weren’t grouping them into rooms as I expected. Instead, everything was under ‘In My Home’. I was particularly looking forward to organizing my devices into specific rooms for easier management and automation. After some research and experimentation, I discovered that the issue was related to how Google and SmartThings handle device categories. It turns out that only devices categorized under ‘lights’, ‘cameras’, or ‘security’ would show up in rooms. This meant that my switches and other smart devices weren’t being recognized in the same way. To solve this, I started by ensuring that all my devices were correctly categorized in the SmartThings app. Once that was done, I noticed that some devices began to appear in the appropriate rooms on my Google Home Hub. For the ones that still didn’t show up, I had to manually add them to the desired rooms through the Google Home app. It wasn’t the most seamless process, but with a bit of tweaking, everything fell into place. Now, I can easily access all my devices through the room-based view on my Google Home Hub, which has made managing my smart home setup much more intuitive. It’s a great feeling to have all my devices organized and working together seamlessly! If anyone else is having trouble with device grouping or categorization, I’d be happy to share more tips or troubleshoot together. Let’s keep the community growing and learning from each other! ![]()
