I’ve been exploring the integration between Google Home and SmartThings, and I must say, it’s been a delightful journey!
I recently discovered that you can now control SmartThings routines natively through Google Home or Google Assistant, which has completely transformed how I manage my smart home setup.
Here’s how I made it work:
- Setup: After resetting my Google Home account, I reconnected all my SmartThings devices. To my surprise, all my routines were automatically detected and listed under Google Home’s routines section!
- Activation: Activating a routine is as simple as asking Google to “turn on” the specific routine. For instance, saying, “Hey Google, turn on Good Morning,” instantly triggers my coffee maker, lights, and thermostat!
- Customization: I’ve also been experimenting with combining different routines for various scenarios, like a “Goodnight” routine that turns off lights and lowers the thermostat, all with a single voice command.
This integration has made my mornings and evenings so much smoother. The ability to control everything through voice commands without switching apps is a game-changer! ![]()
If you haven’t tried this yet, I highly recommend giving it a shot. It’s incredibly user-friendly and has added a whole new layer of convenience to my smart home setup. Happy automating! ![]()
