I’ve been on a journey to integrate my Harmony Hub with Home Assistant and Alexa, and I’m thrilled to share my experience! 
Starting off, I was a bit overwhelmed by the number of tutorials and scripts available. I knew I wanted to control my TV, soundbar, and Roku with a single command, but setting it all up felt like a puzzle. After some research, I decided to dive into Home Assistant’s configuration.yaml and create some custom scripts.
Here’s what worked for me:

Script Configuration: I created separate files for each activity (like watching TV or gaming) and added them to my scripts folder. This kept things organized and made troubleshooting easier.

Alexa Integration: Once the scripts were set up in Home Assistant, I used the Alexa Media Player integration to link everything. It was a relief to see my activities show up as routines in the Alexa app!

Testing: I tested each activity multiple times to ensure everything worked smoothly. The best part? I can now say, “Alexa, watch Roku” or “Alexa, play PS3,” and it all happens seamlessly!
A few tips for anyone tackling this:
- Start small. Test one activity at a time before moving on to more complex setups.
- Keep your configuration files clean and well-commented for future reference.
- Don’t hesitate to reach out to the community if you hit a snag. The Home Assistant forums are a goldmine of knowledge!
This integration has completely transformed my home entertainment setup. I’m now looking into adding more smart devices to the mix—maybe even some Philips Hue lights for ambiance!
