I recently embarked on a journey to integrate my Homematic system with Alexa, and I must say, it’s been an enlightening experience!
Starting with a simple roll-up blind, I wanted to control it via Alexa, but I was hesitant about relying solely on the Homematic server.
After some research, I discovered that a Raspberry Pi 3 with an antenna could serve as an excellent CCU2 replacement. The setup involved installing the necessary software and configuring the Raspberry Pi to communicate with my Homematic devices. It was a bit challenging at first, especially figuring out the right software and skills needed for Alexa integration, but the community here was incredibly helpful.
One of the most rewarding parts was setting up Alexa to control not just the roll-up blind but also the room temperatures. It’s amazing how seamlessly everything works together now! If you’re considering a similar setup, I’d recommend starting small and gradually expanding. The sense of accomplishment when everything syncs up is truly satisfying.
A huge thank you to everyone in the community for their invaluable tips and support!
Your insights made this project much easier than I initially thought. Happy automating! ![]()
