Integrating Homematic IP Switch with 2-Wire Intercom System

Hey everyone, I’m new to the smart home scene and I’m trying to figure out how to integrate a Homematic IP switch with an older 2-wire intercom system in my apartment. I’d love to use the Homematic switch to control the doorbell and possibly the intercom functionality through my smart home setup.

Here’s what I’m working with: The current intercom system has two wires—one for ringing and one for opening the door. I want to replace the existing button with a Homematic IP switch that can trigger both actions. I’ve heard that the HMIP-WRC2 might be a good fit, but I’m not entirely sure how to wire it up properly.

I’ve read that the intercom system works by closing a circuit when the button is pressed. I’m wondering if the Homematic switch can mimic this behavior. Also, I’m concerned about the longevity of the door mechanism—will the switch stay open long enough to unlock the door without causing any damage?

If anyone has experience with similar setups or can offer some guidance, I’d really appreciate it! I’m excited to get this working and would love to hear your thoughts.
