Integrating HomeMatic with AMX Controller: My Experience and Solution

Greetings, fellow smart home enthusiasts! I wanted to share my recent journey in integrating my HomeMatic system with an AMX controller. It all started when I decided to streamline my multimedia controls, and I thought why not include my HomeMatic setup in the mix?

After some research, I found that there wasn’t a pre-made module available, so I took the plunge and created one myself. The process involved utilizing the XML-RPC interface and the XMLAPI addon. It was a bit of a learning curve, but seeing the results made it all worthwhile!

My HomeMatic setup is still modest, with 8 lamps controlled by simple switches and one dimmer. I also set up a central ‘off’ switch that shuts down all entertainment electronics. The best part? The AMX module accurately detects all events, allowing for a seamless integration into the graphical interface.

I decided to share my module with the community, and I’ve made it available for free download. However, I must note that it currently doesn’t support queries for presence detectors or temperature sensors, so there’s definitely room for improvement. If anyone has suggestions or wants to collaborate, I’d love to hear from you!

You can find the module and detailed documentation on my website. Feel free to reach out with any questions or feedback—I’m always happy to help! Cheers, A.T.
