I’ve been using Hubitat for years, and recently I decided to integrate it with my Lutron lighting system. Previously, I only used Lutron’s Picos with Hubitat, but now I’m exploring how to manage everything seamlessly.
At first, I was a bit unsure about how to set up the automation rules. Should I have the Picos control the Lutron lighting directly, or let Hubitat handle it all? I decided to try both approaches.
Here’s what I found:
-
Direct Control with Picos: I started by setting up the Picos to control the Lutron lighting. This worked smoothly and felt instantaneous, which I really appreciate.
-
Hubitat as the Central Hub: I also exposed some Alexa devices as buttons in Hubitat and used Rules Machine to manage the automation. This allowed me to keep everything in one place, which is great for consistency and easy management.
I’ve come to realize that a mix of both approaches works best for me. Using Picos for direct control ensures speed, while Hubitat handles more complex automations and integrates everything neatly.
If you’re considering integrating Hubitat with Lutron, I’d recommend experimenting with both methods. It’s all about finding the balance that suits your setup and preferences!
Has anyone else integrated Hubitat with Lutron or other systems? I’d love to hear your experiences and tips!
