Hey everyone! I’m really excited to share my latest smart home project with you all. I’ve been tinkering with smart home devices for a while now, and I’m finally diving into a more complex setup. I’ve got a bedroom that I want to completely overhaul with some smart lighting, and I’m hoping you all can help me figure out the best way to get everything working smoothly together. So, here’s what I’ve got so far: I’ve installed two Philips Hue smart bulbs in each of the lamps on either side of my bed. They’re both connected to my Google Home and phone, which has been a breeze to set up. But now I want to take it a step further. I’ve got a Leviton DZ1KD-1BZ smart dimmer switch that I’d love to integrate into the mix. The idea is to use this dimmer to control both of those Hue bulbs, and possibly even add a third bulb in the room later on. I’ve heard that you can use the actions as a trigger with platforms like SmartThings or Google Home, but I’m not entirely sure how to set that up. My main questions are: 1. Has anyone successfully integrated a smart dimmer like this with Hue bulbs? What was your setup like? 2. Is using the dimmer as a trigger the best way to go about this, or is there a better method? 3. Will the dimmer be able to handle the dimming feature properly, or will I run into any issues? I’ve also heard that the dimmer needs to be connected to a power source, but I’m not entirely sure how that works in terms of wiring. I’ve got an electrician friend helping me out, but I want to make sure I understand the basics before diving in. I’d love to hear from anyone who’s tackled a similar project. What were your challenges? What tips can you share to make this process smoother? I’m really looking forward to getting this all set up and having a fully customizable lighting system in my bedroom. Thanks in advance for all your help and advice! ![]()
