Hello everyone, I’m currently exploring the integration of my iHome iSS50 Smart Monitor into the SmartThings ecosystem. While I’ve had success with other iHome smartplugs, the Smart Monitor isn’t natively supported, which has been a bit of a hurdle. I’m curious if there’s a way to leverage cloud-based sensors through the IDE to make it work seamlessly like native Samsung sensors. My goal is to use it for live temperature data in a virtual thermostat app, but simple push notifications or IFTTT triggers won’t cut it—they need to respond dynamically to temperature changes.
Interestingly, I’ve noticed that the iHome product seems to provide more accurate temperature readings compared to some Samsung alternatives I’ve seen. This accuracy is a big plus, and I’d hate to lose that functionality. If anyone has experience with similar integrations or knows of workarounds, I’d be thrilled to hear your insights!
On a different note, I’ve also been experimenting with the Tesla Fleet API for integrating vehicle data into my smart home setup. It’s fascinating to see how third-party apps can now interact with Tesla’s ecosystem more openly. I’m particularly interested in how this could enhance my Powerwall management and overall energy efficiency. If anyone else is diving into this space, I’d love to compare notes on potential challenges and solutions.
Lastly, I stumbled upon a clever workaround for adjusting the field of view on a camera by adding a telephoto lens. While it’s not always necessary to reduce the field of view, this hack could be invaluable for specific surveillance needs. If anyone has tried something similar or has tips on lens compatibility, please share!
Looking forward to your thoughts and experiences!
