Integrating IKEA Tradfri Remote with Zigbee Binding

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience with integrating the IKEA Tradfri remote into my Zigbee setup. I’ve been using the Zigbee binding with a Telegesis coordinator to control my IKEA bulbs, and it’s been working great so far. However, I’ve been trying to get the Tradfri remote to work as well, and it’s been a bit of a puzzle.

From what I understand, the Tradfri remote doesn’t send information directly to the coordinator, which is why it doesn’t work out of the box. I came across some documentation on zigbee2mqtt that explains how they’ve implemented support for the Tradfri remote. They mentioned using a Zigbee sniffer to capture the Group ID, which I’ve managed to do using a CC2531 sniffer. Now that I have the Group ID, I’m wondering if there’s a way to use this information with the OH2 Zigbee binding to make the Tradfri remote functional.

One challenge I’m facing is that the Tradfri remote changes its Group ID upon reset, which means I can’t simply move it from the Telegesis coordinator to a newly flashed CC2531 to use it with zigbee2mqtt. I’d love to hear if anyone has successfully integrated the Tradfri remote with the OH2 binding or if there are any workarounds for this issue. Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I’m really hoping to find a solution that allows me to use the Tradfri remote seamlessly with my existing setup. It would be fantastic to have all my Zigbee devices working together without any hiccups. Thanks in advance for any help or advice you can offer!
