I’m really excited about the potential of integrating my LifeShield security system with SmartThings!
It seems like a great way to enhance my home automation setup. I’ve managed to get SmartThings responding to LifeShield events using IFTTT, but I’m hitting a wall when it comes to triggering LifeShield events from SmartThings, specifically arming the system when I leave home. ![]()
I stumbled upon some Vera-related code that might work if rewritten as a Smart App, but I’m a bit nervous about storing my LifeShield credentials in the app. Here are my questions:
- How secure would the code be if I convert it to a Smart App?
- Is it possible to pass my LifeShield username and password as parameters, and if so, how secure would that be?
- If I host a local web service, can SmartThings communicate with it? Does the httpGet command support local servers?
Any advice or experiences would be super helpful! I’d love to hear if others have tackled this or found alternative solutions.
Let’s brainstorm together! If you need more details, just ask. ![]()
