I’ve been tinkering with my Lorex IP PoE camera setup for a while now, and I wanted to share my journey of integrating it with my OpenHAB system. At first, I was a bit stuck because I couldn’t find any official bindings or APIs for Lorex cameras. But I refused to give up! ![]()
I started exploring third-party apps and stumbled upon Pushcut and IFTTT. The idea was to trigger actions in OpenHAB based on the motion detection notifications I receive on my iPhone. It was a bit of a stretch, but it worked! ![]()
Here’s what I did:
- Set Up Notifications: I configured my Lorex camera to send iOS notifications whenever motion is detected.
- Connect to Pushcut: I used Pushcut to forward these notifications to my OpenHAB system.
- Create Rules: I set up rules in OpenHAB to trigger specific actions, like turning on lights or sending alerts to my phone.
The best part? It’s all local and doesn’t require internet access once everything is set up. ![]()
If you’re looking to integrate your Lorex cameras with OpenHAB, I highly recommend exploring Pushcut and IFTTT. It’s a bit of a workaround, but it gets the job done! ![]()
