Hello, everyone! I’m a new user diving into the world of smart home integration, and I wanted to share my experiences and some tips I’ve picked up along the way. 
My Setup and Challenges
I’ve been working on integrating several devices from different brands into my smart home ecosystem. It’s been an exciting journey, but not without its hurdles. One of the first challenges I faced was getting my Wemo devices to connect properly over my WLAN. After some research, I discovered that specifying the WLAN interface in the OpenHAB configuration was the key to resolving the issue. This small tweak made a huge difference, and now my Wemo devices are seamlessly integrated!
DSMR Integration Insights
Another area I’ve been exploring is energy monitoring with the DSMR integration. While it’s fantastic for tracking energy consumption, I noticed that the granularity of power data wasn’t sufficient for my needs. After some digging, I realized that the integration was dropping telegrams to reduce event overload. To address this, I proposed a solution where the integration could track max, min, and average power values over intervals, providing a more comprehensive view without overwhelming the system. I’m hopeful this suggestion will be considered for future updates!
Automation and Grafana Tips
I’ve also been experimenting with creating custom automations and visualizations. One thing I found particularly useful was setting up a bar chart in Grafana to display energy consumption data from two different tables. By stacking the values, I could easily compare and analyze trends. If you’re looking to do something similar, I recommend checking out the Grafana documentation for guidance on combining datasets.
Push Notifications as Triggers
For those interested in using push notifications as automation triggers, I stumbled upon a reliable method using Pushbullet and IMAP integration. While it’s not the most straightforward solution, it works seamlessly and keeps everything running locally. I’ve used this setup for years in other projects, and it’s been rock solid!
