Integrating Multiple Brands in Homey: A Newbie's Journey

Hi everyone, I’m Patrick, a complete newbie to Homey, and I’m super excited to dive into the world of smart home automation! I’ve been doing some research and setting things up, but I have a few questions and concerns that I hope the community can help me with.

My goal is to create a seamless smart home experience using a mix of devices from different brands. Here’s what I’m aiming to achieve with Homey Pro 2023:

  • Philips Hue Lighting: I’ve heard great things about Hue, and I want to ensure all my Hue devices work perfectly, even without the Hue hub.
  • Fibaro Roller Shutter: I’ve got this installed, but I’m not entirely sure how to get it working with Homey without a hub.
  • Carrier Air Conditioner: I want to control this unit remotely, but I’m not sure if Homey supports it directly.
  • Solar-Edge Inverter: I want to monitor and control my solar setup, but I’m unsure if this can be done without extra hardware.
  • Brel Roller Shutter: Similar to Fibaro, I want to integrate this without a hub.

I also have some ambitious plans for automation:

  • Weather-Based Automation: I want my roller shutters to open or close based on wind and light levels.
  • Energy Monitoring: I’d love to automate my washing machine and dishwasher based on energy usage, though this is still in the future.
  • Smart Curtains: I want my curtains to open or close based on temperature and light levels, possibly even triggering the air conditioner when someone is near.
  • Offline Functionality: I want all these actions to work even without my phone.

I’ve managed to set up some basic configurations, but I’m not entirely confident about the compatibility of all these devices. I’d love to hear your experiences, tips, and any potential pitfalls I should be aware of. Your insights would be invaluable as I continue this journey!

Thank you all in advance for your help and support. I’m really looking forward to seeing how I can make my smart home vision a reality with Homey!

Best regards, Patrick
