Integrating Multiple Brands in Smart Home System

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience with integrating multiple brands into my smart home system. I’ve been using Vera Plus for a while now, and it’s been great for managing my smart devices. However, I recently ran into some issues when trying to add more devices, specifically Stelpro STZB402+ Zigbee Thermostats.

Initially, I had 7 thermostats set up, and they worked perfectly fine. But when I added 7 more this past fall, things started getting a bit tricky. Every week or so, one of the thermostats would disconnect and go into a configuring state, eventually becoming undetectable. This issue would spread to other devices, forcing me to remove and re-add them, which is quite a hassle, especially when I’m not home.

I reached out to support, and they mentioned it might be a bug that needs to be addressed in a future update. They suggested a workaround, like not adding all devices at once, but that’s not very practical for someone looking to fully integrate their smart home.

I also contacted Stelpro, and they recommended switching to a SmartThings hub, which is compatible with both Z-Wave and Zigbee. While I’m hesitant to invest in a new hub, it seems like a potential solution to avoid the recurring issues.

I’d love to hear from anyone who has successfully integrated multiple brands or has tips on maintaining a stable system with numerous devices. Your insights would be invaluable!

Thanks for your time and help!
