Integrating Multiple Brands: My Experience and Tips for Smoother Automation

Hi everyone, I wanted to share my journey of integrating multiple smart home devices from different brands. As someone who loves experimenting with smart tech, I’ve noticed that combining systems like Homematic IP Wired and Classic can sometimes lead to unexpected delays. For instance, when setting up my new renovation, I found that using HM IP Wired switches alongside Classic devices required some tweaking to ensure smooth operation.

One thing I’ve learned is the importance of centralized connections via a CCU3. While direct connections are ideal for reliability, mixing systems inevitably means relying on the CCU3 for intermediary tasks. I’ve noticed that the delay isn’t too bad, but it’s something to keep in mind when designing your setup.

Another challenge I faced was with motion sensors. My Sonoff SNB03P kept triggering false alarms in the bathroom, especially at night. After some research, I realized adjusting the sensitivity settings and ensuring proper placement made a huge difference. It’s all about finding that sweet spot where it detects real movement without overreacting to minor disturbances.

I’d love to hear others’ experiences with integrating different systems and any tips they’ve picked up along the way. Have you found any tricks to minimize delays or improve sensor accuracy? Let’s keep the conversation going!

Cheers,
