Greetings, community! I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation and thought I’d share my recent experience and a bit of a puzzle I’m trying to solve.
So, I’ve been using my SmartThings Hub for quite some time now, managing sensors and lights throughout my home. It’s been a fantastic setup, but I recently decided to expand my automation into my home office, affectionately known as the ‘Man Cave.’
The challenge arose when I realized the range of the main hub wasn’t sufficient to cover the far end of my garden where the office is located. After some research, I decided to purchase a second hub during the Black Friday sale. The idea was to have a dedicated hub for the office, allowing me to add sensors and other devices without overloading the main system.
However, upon setting up the second hub, I ran into an issue. While both hubs are registered on my account and show up in the app, the second one remains inactive despite leaving it overnight. I’m curious if having two hubs on the same network is causing some kind of conflict, perhaps with port usage or network settings. I’ve tried adjusting the network settings and ensuring both hubs are on the same subnet, but the problem persists.
I’d love to hear from anyone who has successfully integrated multiple hubs into their smart home setup. What steps did you take to ensure both hubs functioned seamlessly? Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated!
On a lighter note, I’m really excited about the potential this second hub brings to my office setup. Imagine being able to automate lighting, temperature, and even security without any lag or interference. It’s a bit of a puzzle, but I’m determined to crack it with your help!
Thanks in advance for your insights and suggestions!
