Integrating Myenergi and Givenergy for Comprehensive Energy Monitoring

Hi everyone, I’m excited to share my recent project where I successfully integrated Myenergi and Givenergy devices into a unified energy monitoring system within Home Assistant. This setup allows me to track energy flows from both systems in one place, which has been incredibly helpful for optimizing my energy usage.

Initially, I faced some challenges because Myenergi and Givenergy view house consumption differently. Myenergi excludes the Zappi and Eddi from its calculations, while Givenergy includes them. This discrepancy made it difficult to get a clear picture of my overall energy consumption. However, after some research and tinkering, I managed to create a custom dashboard that combines data from both systems. This involved setting up separate integrations for each system and then using Lovelace cards to display the combined data.

One of the most rewarding parts of this project was setting up automation rules to manage energy usage more efficiently. For instance, I created a rule that automatically adjusts the Eddi’s solar diversion based on the current energy production from my Givenergy PV panels. This has helped me maximize the use of solar energy and reduce grid dependency.

I also wanted to share a tip for anyone looking to integrate multiple energy systems. Start by thoroughly understanding how each system calculates consumption and then use custom sensors and scripts to harmonize the data. This approach not only provides a more accurate picture of your energy usage but also makes it easier to set up meaningful automations.

Overall, this project has been a great learning experience and has significantly improved my energy management setup. I’m grateful to the Home Assistant community for the wealth of resources and support available. If anyone has questions or needs help with similar integrations, feel free to reach out! :rocket:
