I’m currently working on a project to integrate my Nest Thermostat with ZXT-120 IR units to control my window air conditioners. Here’s what I’ve been thinking and doing so far:
I have a few window AC units, and I want to automate their control using smart home technology. My main idea is to use the cooling functionality of the Nest Thermostat to trigger the ZXT-120 units. This way, the AC units can turn on and off based on the Nest’s temperature settings. However, I’m not entirely sure how to set this up, so I’m looking for advice or suggestions.
Another idea I had was to use a Z-Wave contact sensor. By taking the Y1 wire from the Nest and connecting it to a contact sensor, I could create a scene in Vera that triggers the ZXT-120 to turn the AC on or off. This approach seems a bit more involved, but I think it could work. I’m also considering using CT-30 or CT-100 sensors in other rooms to control their respective AC units.
I’ve reached out to the community for feedback, and I’m excited to see what solutions or tips others might have. Whether it’s about fine-tuning the integration or exploring alternative methods, I’m eager to learn and improve my setup.
If anyone has experience with similar projects or knows of any potential pitfalls, I’d love to hear from you! Let’s collaborate to make this project a success.
