Integrating Nuki and Ekey: A Smooth Experience with Tips for Others

Hi everyone, I wanted to share my experience integrating my Nuki Smart Lock with an existing Ekey fingerprint scanner. While the process had its challenges, it ultimately turned out to be a seamless addition to my smart home setup. :tada:

I started by researching compatibility since my Ekey (SE 2 Reg) doesn’t have Bluetooth, relying solely on two relays. After some digging, I found that using a FOB wasn’t the only solution—there are workarounds by configuring the relays properly. If you’re in a similar situation, I highly recommend checking the relay specifications to ensure they meet the requirements for your setup.

One thing I learned is to test the integration thoroughly before relying on it fully. I also discovered that maintaining a strong GSM signal (ideally above 11/31) is crucial for consistent performance, especially if you’re using security systems like the 2GIG panel. It’s always good to monitor this to avoid any unexpected issues.

For those looking to expand their Z-Wave network, I’ve had great success with the Aeotec Smart Home Hub. It’s been a reliable upgrade from my older Samsung system, and while setting it up required some time to transfer configurations manually, the ease of use and range improvements have been worth it. If you have legacy devices like GE outlets, make sure to follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for unpairing to avoid any conflicts.

Lastly, I’d love to hear from others who have successfully integrated multiple smart lock models or have tips for maintaining a robust GSM connection. The community here is fantastic, and I’m grateful for all the insights that helped me along the way!
