I recently purchased two OSRAM plugs and decided to integrate them into my smart home setup. Initially, I tried connecting them directly to my Homey device, but due to the distance from the Homey, the connection wasn’t stable. The plugs worked intermittently, which wasn’t ideal for my setup.
Since I have a lot of HUE devices in my home, I decided to try adding the OSRAM plugs to my HUE bridge. This worked perfectly, and the connection became very stable. It makes sense that the HUE network is more reliable for controlling these devices.
However, I faced an issue where the switches were not visible in Homey, and consequently, I couldn’t integrate them with Google Assistant. I tried adding new HUE devices in Homey using all available options (lamps, tap, dimmer switch, and sensor), but they couldn’t be found. This was a bit frustrating, but I continued to explore solutions.
After some research, I found a helpful thread in the Homey community that provided a solution. By adjusting the settings in the HUE bridge and ensuring the devices were properly paired, I was able to get the OSRAM plugs to appear in Homey. This allowed me to set up automation and integrate them with Google Assistant seamlessly.
This experience taught me the importance of checking community forums for solutions and ensuring all devices are correctly paired. It also highlighted the reliability of the HUE network for smart home devices. I’m now fully enjoying the convenience of having these OSRAM plugs integrated into my smart home ecosystem.
If anyone else is facing similar issues, I recommend double-checking the pairing process and consulting the community forums for additional support. Happy integrating!
