Integrating Outdoor Smart Sockets with Home Assistant

Hey everyone, I’m currently exploring the world of outdoor smart sockets and how they can be seamlessly integrated into my Home Assistant setup. I’ve got a few Philips Hue lights and a Google Home Mini already, but I want to expand my setup with some outdoor features.

I came across this Teckin wireless outdoor socket, and it seems promising. It’s waterproof, has two outputs, and claims compatibility with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and IFTTT. My main question is: how can I ensure this device works smoothly with Home Assistant?

From what I understand, if the socket is compatible with Google Home, there should be a way to create an entity in Home Assistant. But I’m not entirely sure how to go about it. Should I rely on the built-in Google Home integration, or is there a more direct method? I’m also curious if others have successfully integrated similar devices and what their experiences were.

Another consideration is the outdoor setup. I want to make sure the socket is placed in a location where it’s both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Maybe near my garden or on my patio. I’m also thinking about security—ensuring the socket is weatherproof and tamper-proof.

If anyone has tips or step-by-step guides on how to set this up, I’d greatly appreciate it. I’m excited to enhance my outdoor lighting and maybe even automate it based on sunset times or motion detection. Let’s make my backyard smarter! :star2:
