Integrating RainMachine and Exploring Smart Home Security

Hello everyone, I’m really excited to share my journey with integrating my RainMachine sprinkler system into my smart home setup. After spending countless hours researching and troubleshooting, I managed to get everything up and running using LAN callouts instead of relying on port forwarding and cloud connections. While the asynchronous nature of LAN callouts was a bit of a learning curve, it’s been incredibly rewarding to see everything work seamlessly now.

One thing I’ve been curious about lately is smart home security. I’ve been looking into the Ring Alarm system and how it can be integrated with Hubitat for a more decentralized setup. The idea of having my alarm system controlled entirely within Hubitat without relying on Ring’s app is really appealing. I’d love to hear from anyone who’s managed to set up something similar or has tips on how to achieve this. Specifically, I’m interested in setting up a system where the alarm automatically arms when I leave the house and includes some unique features like a custom siren and a silent alarm option.

Another area I’ve been exploring is the integration of smart cameras and doorbells. I’ve heard great things about the Wyze Cam v3 and its capabilities, but I’m curious if it’s possible to record video directly to a local network storage without relying on cloud services. This would be a huge plus for privacy and reliability.

On a lighter note, I’ve also been experimenting with creating custom scenes and automations using WebCore. It’s been a fun challenge to design routines that adapt to different times of the day and user preferences. For example, I have a scene that adjusts lighting and thermostat settings based on whether it’s daytime or nighttime, which has really enhanced my home’s comfort.

I’d love to hear from anyone who’s tackled similar projects or has advice on optimizing these setups. The community here is amazing, and I’m always eager to learn more and share my experiences!
