Hey everyone, I’ve been exploring the integration of my Raspberry Pi 4 with an Amcrest doorbell camera, and I wanted to share my experience and see if others have tackled similar setups.
So, here’s the setup: I’m running Home Assistant OS on my Raspberry Pi 4, and the TV is connected via HDMI. I’ve successfully integrated the Amcrest 410 doorbell camera, and whenever someone presses the doorbell, I get an alert in Home Assistant. The camera also has an RTSP stream that I can view in VLC.
What I’d love to achieve is tying all of this together. My goal is to have the Raspberry Pi turn on the TV and display the RTSP stream from the doorbell camera when someone rings the bell. I’ve been researching how to automate this process and would love to hear if anyone has successfully implemented something similar.
I’ve looked into using Home Assistant automations and scripts to control the TV and stream the RTSP feed, but I’m not entirely sure about the best approach. Has anyone worked on a similar project? Any tips or resources would be greatly appreciated!
