Hey everyone, I’m really excited to share my recent project with the community! I’ve been working on integrating my Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W with Home Assistant to play audio files from a network location. I’ve been using Python and MQTT for automation, which has been working great so far. My current setup uses a local audio file (‘bel.wav’) stored on the Raspberry Pi, but I’d love to play this file from Home Assistant’s media folder instead.
I’ve heard about using SMB to access network files, but I’m curious if there’s a cleaner or more efficient way to achieve this within Home Assistant. Maybe there’s a built-in feature or a clever workaround that I’m missing. I’d love to hear from anyone who has successfully implemented something similar or has tips on how to approach this.
On another note, I’ve been exploring the possibilities of creating dynamic heating schedules using Tado alongside Home Assistant. The idea is to set predefined heating times for different zones based on our daily routines. For example, having the underfloor heating kick in 30 minutes before we wake up or automatically turning off after the kids go to bed. This would not only make our home more comfortable but also help save on energy costs, which is a big plus these days.
I’ve also been experimenting with automations that adjust the heating based on real-time data, like the outdoor temperature or the current activity in the house. It’s been a fun challenge, and I’m eager to see how others have tackled similar projects. Any insights or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
Looking forward to hearing from you all and sharing more updates as I progress with these projects. Happy automating! ![]()
