Hey everyone, I’m excited to share my latest smart home project and seek some advice from the community. I’ve been working on integrating my Shelly 2.5 device with my existing Edomi visualization and KNX system to create a smart doorbell solution. Here’s what I’m aiming to achieve and where I could use some help!
Project Overview
I want my doorbell to do more than just ring—it should also trigger some lights to flash when someone presses the bell. Specifically, I want the lights to dim up and down three times whenever the doorbell is pressed. This would not only alert me but also add a fun visual element to my smart home setup.
Current Setup
I currently have a KNX system in place, which I’ve integrated with Edomi for easy visualization and control. The doorbell is connected to a Shelly 2.5, which I’ve configured to detect the power consumption when the bell is pressed. The idea is that when the bell rings, it triggers a specific action in my smart home system.
The Challenge
While I’ve managed to get the Shelly 2.5 to detect the power consumption and send an HTTP request, I’m stuck on how to make this trigger the lighting effect I want. I’ve tried setting up some rules in Edomi, but they don’t seem to be responding as expected. I’m wondering if there’s a more efficient way to link the Shelly’s detection with the lighting system.
Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
- Configured the Shelly 2.5 to monitor the power usage of the doorbell.
- Set up an HTTP request to notify Edomi when the doorbell is pressed.
- Created a rule in Edomi to trigger the lights, but it’s not working consistently.
Seeking Solutions
I’m curious if anyone has experience with similar setups or can suggest a more reliable method to achieve this. Maybe there’s a different way to structure the HTTP request or a better rule setup in Edomi. Any insights or alternative approaches would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance for your help! I’m really looking forward to getting this project up and running smoothly. ![]()
