After spending several weeks exploring and integrating various smart home devices, I wanted to share my experience with the Shelly range. My journey began with the Shelly 1 and Shelly 2.5, which I’ve successfully incorporated into my home automation setup. I’ve used the Shelly 1 to control a set of lights and a blind motor, while the Shelly 2.5 handles a markise. The integration process was straightforward, and the devices have proven to be reliable and efficient.
One of the most impressive features of the Shelly devices is their compatibility with multiple protocols. I’ve been able to seamlessly integrate them into my existing ecosystem without any major hiccups. The Shelly app has also been a lifesaver, providing a user-friendly interface for managing all my devices. I’ve even managed to install them in deep wall sockets, which has been a great way to keep everything tidy and out of sight.
However, I encountered a minor issue with the battery life of the Shelly HT. It seems that in battery mode, it requires a fixed IP, which was a bit of a challenge to set up. Additionally, the WLAN reception could be improved, but this hasn’t significantly impacted my overall experience.
For anyone looking to integrate Shelly devices into their smart home, I highly recommend starting with the Shelly 1 and Shelly 2.5. They are versatile, easy to use, and offer a wide range of possibilities for automation. I’m currently exploring more advanced automation scenarios, such as setting up a scene where the exterior lights turn on for five minutes when the garage door opens. While I’m still working on perfecting this, the potential is exciting!
If anyone has tips or tricks for optimizing Shelly device performance or setting up complex scenes, I’d love to hear them. Happy automating! ![]()
