I’ve been on a journey to integrate my Shelly devices, Vera system, and Home Assistant, and I’m thrilled to share my success story! ![]()
The Setup Process
-
Shelly Devices: I started by connecting my Shelly 1 Mini G3 and Shelly Button. The setup was straightforward using the Home Assistant app. The devices recognized each other instantly, and I could control them through the app. However, I noticed a script called ‘aioshelly BLE script 2.0’ was automatically installed. I wasn’t sure what it did, but after some research, I realized it’s for Bluetooth proxy support—handy for mesh networking!
-
Vera Integration: Next, I wanted to integrate my Vera system. I followed the guide to use House Modes and SiteSensor/Reactor apps. It took some time to map the modes correctly, but once set up, Vera and Home Assistant worked seamlessly together. I could control my HVAC automation from Vera while managing House modes and presence detection through Home Assistant.
-
Home Assistant Automation: I created a flow where pressing the Shelly Button toggles the lights in my garden. The automation worked perfectly, but I had to ensure it didn’t interfere with my home lights. I learned that using specific Beacons for each location helps avoid cross-activation.
Troubleshooting Tips
- Device Recognition: If your Shelly device isn’t recognized, try resetting it and重新配对 through the Home Assistant app.
- Vera Modes: Ensure your House Modes on Vera match those on Home Assistant. This avoids confusion and ensures smooth automation.
- Bluetooth Scripts: If you see scripts like ‘aioshelly BLE script 2.0’, don’t panic. They’re usually for enhancing connectivity and can be safely ignored unless they cause issues.
The Satisfaction
Seeing everything work together is incredibly satisfying! My garden lights now respond to the Shelly Button, and my HVAC automation runs smoothly across both Vera and Home Assistant. It’s a great feeling to have a fully integrated smart home system.
If you’re considering integrating multiple systems, I highly recommend starting with one device at a time and gradually expanding. The learning curve is worth it for the convenience and satisfaction it brings! ![]()
