Integrating Sleep Number Bed with SmartThings: A Journey of Exploration

Hi everyone, I hope this post finds you well! I’m Jason, a tech enthusiast with a curiosity for home automation. I’ve been on a mission to integrate my Sleep Number bed with SmartThings, and I wanted to share my journey, challenges, and insights with you all. :bed::sparkles:

My goal is to automate the inflation and deflation of each side of the bed, and if possible, control the vertical motion as well. I’ve already explored the Sleep IQ app, which offers some great features like presence detection, but it stops short of the full automation I’m aiming for. I’ve reached out to developers and done some preliminary research, but I’m hitting a wall when it comes to understanding the server calls needed to achieve this integration. :jigsaw::mag:

I’ve started by looking into packet analysis to identify the specific data being sent to Sleep IQ servers. Tools like Wireshark have been mentioned in some forums, but I’m not entirely sure how to set them up for this purpose. Any advice or resources would be incredibly helpful! :rocket:

On the coding side, I’ve dipped my toes into writing some trial scripts, but it’s been a bit of a learning curve. I’m not a developer by trade, so every error message feels like a new puzzle to solve. The community here has been amazing, and I’m hopeful that with some guidance, I can make this a reality. :handshake:

I’d love to hear from anyone who has tackled similar projects or has insights into working with Sleep Number APIs. Whether it’s about packet analysis, scripting tips, or even just encouragement, your input would mean the world to me! :star2:

Let’s keep the conversation going and see where this journey takes us! Thanks in advance for your support and wisdom.
