Integrating Smart Blinds with Brilliant.tech: A Cost-Effective Solution

Hi everyone! I’m really excited to share my journey of integrating smart blinds into my new construction project. After researching various options, I stumbled upon Brilliant.tech, which has been a game-changer for me. It’s incredibly straightforward and future-proof, as it simply replaces regular light switches. However, my latest project has thrown a bit of a curveball—36 blinds in one home and 50 in another! The cost of smart shades was astronomical, so I had to think outside the box.

Enter METechs—amazing motorized blinds that are budget-friendly but lack native smart integration. They do have a simple RF motor and a remote, which I initially thought might work. METechs provided a Tuya bridge, but unfortunately, SmartThings recently discontinued their IDE, leaving me stuck with connectivity issues. The infamous message, “this device hasn’t updated all of its status information yet. Check again later,” became my new best friend (or foe, rather).

After some digging, I found the Bond Bridge, which claims to copy RF remote signals and work seamlessly with SmartThings. It operates on an 868 MHz rolling code RF signal, which seems promising. I’m curious if anyone else has had success with this setup or if there’s a better alternative out there. I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences!

On a lighter note, integrating these blinds has made me appreciate the finer details of smart home automation. It’s not just about the convenience—it’s about creating a seamless, connected environment. I’m eager to see how this project unfolds and can’t wait to share more updates as I tackle these smart blind challenges. Cheers to the smart home enthusiasts out there! :star2:
