Hello everyone,
I hope this message finds you well. I’ve been diving into the world of smart home integration lately, and I wanted to share some of my experiences and ask for your expertise.
First, I’ve noticed an interesting issue with my TTS (Text-to-Speech) announcements. Occasionally, when a TTS announcement is triggered, it seems like music starts playing in the background. This is a bit startling because I didn’t request any music to be played. From what I can gather, the sequence of events is:
- Nothing is playing initially.
- Music starts.
- The music volume lowers.
- The TTS announcement plays.
- The music stops.
This doesn’t happen every time, which makes it a bit puzzling. I’m using Sonos ONE Gen 2 and Gen 1 speakers with the latest S2 firmware. Has anyone else encountered this behavior? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
Moving on to another topic, I’ve been exploring the possibility of setting up SMS alerts using a 3G USB modem. My internet connection isn’t the most reliable, so having a backup method for alerts is crucial. I’m currently using Vera Edge UI7, and I’ve searched the forums for solutions, but I haven’t found a clear answer yet. If anyone has successfully implemented this or has guidance to share, I’d be very thankful!
Lastly, I’m in the planning stages of a smart home project for a new addition to my house. I’m aiming to integrate smart switches in the bathroom and living room for automation. In the bathroom, I have three recessed LED lights above the shower and tub, two above the vanity, and an exhaust fan/light combo. I’m considering using TP-Link Kasa smart switches but I’m not entirely sure how many I’ll need or how to set them up for dimming and automation.
In the living room, I have similar plans with recessed lights and a fan/light combo. I’m also wondering if it’s possible to maintain a system with multiple switches for controlling lights from different areas. Any advice or recommendations would be invaluable as I try to get this right before the walls go up.
Thank you all for your time and for sharing your knowledge. I’m really looking forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences!
Best regards,
