Integrating Smart Devices: My Recent Setup Journey and Questions

Hello everyone! I’m really excited to share my recent experiences with integrating some smart devices into my home. It’s been a fascinating journey, and I’d love to hear your thoughts and tips. First off, I’ve successfully connected a Tasmota-based smart meter, which has been a great addition. I’ve been able to track energy usage in real-time, and it’s been pretty smooth so far. However, I’m still figuring out how to get all the data onto my energy dashboard. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Another project I’ve undertaken is automating a bookcase door. It’s a bit of a fun challenge—using a linear actuator to make it open and close automatically. I’ve been researching different actuators and door openers, and I’m curious about the best way to set this up without needing too much custom coding. I’d love to hear if anyone has experience with similar projects. On the other hand, I’m facing an issue with my motion detection setup. I’ve configured my camera with a mask to prevent detecting movement outside, but it’s still not picking up motion in the area I need it to. I’ve adjusted the framerate and masking, but it’s not quite working as expected. Any tips on optimizing motion detection would be really helpful. Thinking about expanding my setup further, I’m considering integrating devices from multiple brands. I’ve heard that this can sometimes lead to compatibility issues, so I’m wondering what the best practices are for ensuring smooth integration. Is there a particular approach or tool that makes managing devices from different manufacturers easier? It’s been a great learning experience so far, and I’m looking forward to seeing how I can improve my setup. If anyone has advice or recommendations, I’d be thrilled to hear them! Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other out on this smart home journey. :rocket:
