Integrating Smart Door Openers for Seamless Access

Hey everyone, I’ve been trying to streamline my smart home setup, especially focusing on making my daily routines smoother. One area I’ve been working on is integrating my SwitchBot and Nuki devices for a seamless door-opening experience. Let me share my journey and see if anyone has tips or tricks to make this even better!

So, the goal was simple: open my apartment and building doors without fumbling for my phone. I have a SwitchBot to open the building door and a Nuki for my apartment. They work okay, but it feels almost the same as using a key—still needing to take my phone out of my pocket. I wanted something more integrated, like a keychain remote control that could trigger both actions with a single press.

I started researching Bluetooth remotes that could connect to my phone and trigger actions. After some digging, I found a few options, but most required being within Bluetooth range, which wasn’t ideal for my setup since the building and apartment doors are far apart. Then, I stumbled upon an app that works with smartwatches. It allows me to set up custom actions that trigger when I tap my watch, which is always on my wrist. This seemed like the solution I was looking for!

I set it up so that tapping my watch once triggers the SwitchBot to open the building door, and tapping it again triggers the Nuki to open my apartment door. It’s incredibly smooth and feels like a true smart home experience. No more fumbling for my phone, and it’s all integrated into my daily routine.

I’d love to hear if anyone else has tackled a similar problem or has tips for improving this setup. Maybe there’s a way to automate it even further or integrate it with other smart home features. Let’s brainstorm together!

Thanks for reading, and I look forward to your thoughts and suggestions!
