Hi everyone, I’m thinking of implementing a smart garage door security system, but I’m not sure if it’s possible. Here’s the situation: our building has three garage doors, and we have an open door sensor that sends notifications through the SmartThings app whenever a door is open. However, with 12 neighbors, managing notifications for each person is complicated.
The main issue is ensuring that only authorized individuals can open the garage doors. My idea is to combine the open door sensor with a password system. Each person would need to enter a password via an app or a physical keypad every time they open a door. If the password isn’t entered, an alarm would trigger, and a notification would be sent to the community.
I’m wondering if this is feasible. Are there any existing solutions or better ideas that could achieve this? I’m particularly interested in how to integrate the password system with the existing sensors and ensure seamless operation. Any suggestions or experiences would be greatly appreciated!
