Hey everyone! I’m really excited to share my recent project and get your thoughts. I’ve been working on creating an automatic door entry system for individuals with disabilities, and I’d love to hear your ideas and experiences.
The goal is to make home entry seamless and safe. I’ve been using SmartThings to control the door lock and opener, but I’m looking for ways to improve the system’s reliability and integration. For example, how can I ensure the door opens smoothly every time, especially during power outages or system updates?
I’ve considered using a hydraulic system for the door mechanism, but I’m not entirely sure if that’s the best approach. Maybe there’s a more efficient or quieter option? Also, I’m thinking about how to handle the transition between the door opening and locking. Any suggestions on ensuring these actions are synchronized and secure?
Another thing I’m curious about is the hardware compatibility. Are there specific sensors or actuators you’d recommend for this kind of system? I want to make sure everything works seamlessly with SmartThings and other smart home devices.
This project is close to my heart, and I’m eager to learn from your experiences. Have any of you tackled a similar project? What challenges did you face, and how did you overcome them? I’d especially appreciate any tips on user experience design to make the system as intuitive as possible for the end-user.
Let’s brainstorm together! I’m looking forward to your insights and can’t wait to see how this project evolves with your help. Thanks in advance for your support and ideas!
