Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience integrating a smart HVAC system with multiple devices to optimize energy efficiency. As someone who’s always looking for ways to reduce energy consumption, I’ve been experimenting with Hubitat’s HubiSaver HVAC Control System. It’s been a fantastic addition to my smart home setup!
The system uses sensor fusion, combining presence detection from my mobile phone with a motion sensor. This approach ensures that the HVAC system only runs when there’s actual activity in the house. I’ve set it up to keep the HVAC active for 55 minutes after detecting motion, and if there’s no activity for 56 minutes, it turns off automatically. This has already made a noticeable difference in my energy bills!
What’s really impressive is how customizable the system is. It’s designed with an abstract top-level controller, which means I can easily integrate different thermostats, motion detectors, or even other brands of devices. I’m currently using an Advanced Honeywell T6 Pro Thermostat paired with a Zooz 4-in-1 Sensor for motion detection. The system also works seamlessly with my mobile phone’s WiFi presence sensor, which I set up with a static IP address.
One thing I’ve learned is the importance of proper configuration. I had to tweak some settings, like adjusting the ideal temperature and the idle HVAC minutes, to ensure everything worked smoothly. The scripts provided by HubiSaver were a great starting point, and I’ve been able to modify them to suit my specific needs.
I’d love to hear from others who’ve implemented similar systems or have tips for optimizing HVAC energy usage. Have you tried integrating multiple brands or devices? What challenges did you face, and how did you overcome them? I’m always looking for new ways to improve my setup!
Cheers,
