Integrating Smart Lighting and Thermostat for a Seamless Experience

I’ve been on a journey to create a truly seamless smart home experience, and I wanted to share my progress and some questions with the community. :rocket:

First, let me start by saying how impressed I am with the integration capabilities of modern smart home devices. I’ve managed to connect my Govee LED strips with my Ecobee thermostat, and it’s been a game-changer for my daily routine. The ability to have the lights dim and the temperature adjust automatically when I go to bed has made my evenings so much more relaxing. :relieved:

However, I’ve hit a bit of a snag when it comes to integrating my First Alert Z-Wave smoke detectors with my Ecobee setup. I’ve read that it’s possible to create a virtual switch or use IFTTT to shut off the thermostat in case of an emergency, but I’m not quite sure how to set this up. If anyone has experience with this, I’d love to hear your tips! :bulb:

Another thing I’ve been exploring is creating a virtual switch to control an outlet without relying solely on the app. I’ve come across some interesting ideas, like using a nearby switch box to power an in-wall outlet via a SmartApp. Does this sound feasible, or am I missing a simpler solution?

Lastly, I’ve been thinking about adding motion sensors to my setup. I’ve heard that some devices can be set to turn off a switch when motion is detected, but I’m not sure if there’s an existing app for this or if I need to create a custom flow. Any insights would be greatly appreciated! :male_detective::male_sign:

Overall, I’m really enjoying the process of building out my smart home, and I’m grateful for the supportive community here. Let’s continue to learn and grow together! :star2:
