Integrating Smart Lighting and UPS Solutions for a Seamless Experience

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience integrating some smart lighting solutions and a UPS for my Raspberry Pi setup. It’s been a journey of learning and tweaking, and I thought I’d document it here in case it helps anyone else!

First off, I recently upgraded my bathroom lighting to smart bulbs. I was using some dumb switches and bulbs before, but they were always left on by accident. I decided to go with Hue bulbs and connected them via motion sensors. The setup was pretty straightforward, and now the lights turn on when motion is detected and off after a few minutes of inactivity. It’s been a great energy saver!

However, I encountered a bit of a snag with the extractor fan in the bathroom. I wanted it to run whenever the lights are on, but I wasn’t sure how to integrate it with the smart setup. I did some research and found that using a Fibaro module behind the light switch could handle both the lights and the fan. It took a bit of trial and error, but I managed to set it up so that the fan runs whenever the lights are on, and it shuts off after a delay. It’s working perfectly now!

On another note, I’ve been looking into UPS solutions for my Raspberry Pi setup. I came across some recommendations for small, reliable UPS units that work well with Raspberry Pi. I ended up getting one that provides enough power to keep my system running during brief power outages. It’s been a great addition and gives me peace of mind knowing my smart home setup is protected.

I’d love to hear from others who have gone through similar integrations or have tips for optimizing smart lighting and UPS setups. It’s always inspiring to see how others have tackled these projects and the creative solutions they’ve come up with!

Cheers,
