Hello everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of smart lighting and motion sensors lately, and I wanted to share my experiences and some questions I have.
I’ve set up motion sensors in various parts of my home, and they’ve been working wonderfully for the most part. The lights automatically turn on when I enter a room, which is super convenient. However, I’ve noticed a small issue that’s been bugging me. Whenever I manually adjust the brightness of the lights to a higher level, the motion sensor eventually kicks in and lowers them back to the default setting. This happens even if I’m still in the room, which can be a bit frustrating.
I’m using the SmartThings Smart Lighting app for most of my setups, and while it’s great, I wish there was a way to tell the system not to override my manual adjustments. Is there a feature or workaround that allows me to set the lights to stay at the brightness level I choose after I’ve adjusted them?
Another thing I’m curious about is integrating music with motion sensors. I love how the lights and music can work together, but I’ve noticed a similar issue with the audio levels. If I manually increase the volume of my Sonos speakers, the motion sensor eventually lowers it back to the default setting. Is there a way to prevent this from happening?
I’ve considered creating a custom app or using virtual switches to solve these issues, but I feel like there should be a simpler way. Maybe there’s a setting or a rule I haven’t discovered yet.
If anyone has any tips or solutions, I’d greatly appreciate your input! Let’s make these smart systems work even smarter for us. ![]()
