Integrating Smart Sense and Motion Sensors: Tips and Tricks

Hey everyone! I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately, and I wanted to share some of my experiences and questions with the community.

First off, I’ve been really impressed with how Smart Sense technology works on my bulbs. It’s so cool how they can detect motion and adjust brightness automatically. But I have a question: if I turn off Smart Sense on one bulb, will the other bulb with Smart Sense also turn off? I’m curious about how these features interact with each other. :rocket:

On another note, I’ve been working with motion sensors to control my basement lights. Initially, I set up a rule where the lights turn on when motion is detected and off after 5 minutes. It worked like a charm! But here’s the thing—I sometimes use Google Assistant to manually turn off the lights before the 5-minute timer ends. The issue is, when I walk back into the room, the lights don’t turn back on until the timer is up. Does anyone know how to override this behavior so the lights react immediately to motion, even if they were turned off manually? :brain:

I’ve also been exploring different smart devices from various brands, and I’m always on the lookout for tips to make my setup more seamless. For example, I recently came across the Govee Ice Maker and I’m really excited about it. I’m wondering if there’s a timeline for its release or if anyone has tips on integrating it with other systems. :ice_cube:

Lastly, I’ve been experimenting with Matter bridges and third-party accessories. It’s fascinating how you can turn traditional devices into smart ones with the right bridge. But I’m curious—can I build a custom Matter bridge for specific devices, like Philips Hue bulbs, without relying on their official bridge? :hammer_and_wrench:

If anyone has insights or advice on these topics, I’d love to hear them! Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other make our smart homes even smarter. :bulb:
