Integrating Smart Switches and Enhancing Automation

Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into some exciting home automation projects lately and wanted to share my experiences and ask for some advice.

First, I’ve been experimenting with integrating a variety of smart switches into my setup. I recently acquired an Aqara Wall Switch, and I’m curious about its compatibility with the US wiring standard (120V 60Hz). From what I’ve read, their hubs adapt well to different voltages, but I’m not entirely sure about the wall switches themselves. Has anyone successfully used these in the US? Any tips or experiences to share would be fantastic!

On another note, I’ve been working on refining my automation scripts, particularly those involving cameras and motion detection. I came across a common issue where the still image from my Ring camera doesn’t update in real-time, leading to stale images being sent to my Telegram group. This is a bit frustrating, especially since I rely on these notifications for security purposes. I’ve tried introducing delays in the automation, but it hasn’t resolved the issue. Does anyone have any insights or workarounds for this?

I’d also love to hear about others’ experiences with creating custom sensors and automations. For example, I’ve been thinking about setting up a system to monitor my sump pump’s power usage. It would be incredibly useful to receive a notification if the pump activates or if there’s an unexpected power drop. Are there any existing integrations or scripts that could help with this?

Lastly, I’ve been exploring the world of DIY projects, like creating a smart mouse trap using a Sonoff Zigbee sensor. It’s a fun way to combine practicality with technology, and I’d love to see what other creative projects people have undertaken.

Thanks for reading, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences! :rocket:
