Integrating Smart Switches with Hubitat: Challenges and Solutions

Hello everyone, I’m currently working on integrating some smart switches into my home automation setup, and I wanted to share my experiences and ask for some advice.

I recently purchased a set of modular glass frame switches from Livolo, which I really like because of their sleek design. These switches are touch-sensitive and don’t require a neutral wire, which initially seemed like a great feature. However, I’ve run into some challenges when trying to pair them with my Shelly Dimmer 2 and integrate them with my Hubitat ecosystem.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  • I attempted to use the Load wire for both the Shelly Dimmer and the Livolo switch, but this caused the relay to switch on and off rapidly, which isn’t ideal.
  • I then tried using a separate Neutral wire for the switch, which worked partially but didn’t solve all my issues.

My goal is to use these switches normally while still maintaining the smart integration with my Hubitat hub and Alexa. I’ve read that devices without a neutral wire work by turning off the output briefly multiple times per second to charge the capacitor, but I’m not sure how this affects the integration with my hub.

Has anyone else encountered similar issues when integrating non-neutral switches with their smart home setups? I’d love to hear if there are any workarounds or solutions that others have found. Additionally, I’m curious if there are any alternative devices or configurations that might offer better compatibility with Hubitat.

Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your help.
