As a long-time user of SmartThings, I’ve always been impressed by its ability to seamlessly integrate with various smart devices. My previous experience with the CT100 thermostats was flawless, allowing me to manage my home’s heating and cooling systems directly through the SmartThings platform. However, with the arrival of my new home, I’ve been on a quest to find a modern thermostat that offers the same level of integration without the need for their native apps.
I’ve come across several options like the Ecobee, Nest, Honeywell T5, and T9. While these are all excellent devices, I’ve heard mixed reviews about their compatibility with SmartThings Edge. For instance, the Ecobee series is often mentioned, but there’s a catch—adjusting the temperature through SmartThings only provides a temporary setting, which isn’t ideal for my use case.
I’d love to hear from the community: have you successfully integrated any of these thermostats with SmartThings Edge? What was your experience like? Did you encounter any issues, and if so, how did you resolve them? I’m particularly interested in knowing if there’s a thermostat that allows full scheduling, automation, and temperature control directly through SmartThings without relying on the manufacturer’s app.
