Integrating Smart Water Meter Data into Home Assistant

Hey everyone! I’ve been really excited about the advancements in smart home technology, especially with utilities like water meters. Recently, I upgraded to a smart water meter from Thames Water, and I’m thrilled to share my journey of integrating it into my Home Assistant setup.

For those who might not be familiar, Thames Water has been rolling out smart meters that automatically upload consumption data. This is fantastic because it means I can monitor my water usage without manually reading the meter. However, accessing this data programmatically has been a bit of a challenge.

I stumbled upon a Python script that scrapes the Thames Water website and logs the data into InfluxDB. It’s a neat solution, but I’m curious if there are more generalized methods or integrations available. I’ve also come across a GitHub project that specifically targets Thames Water data, but I’m still exploring how seamless the integration can be.

One thing I’m particularly interested in is how frequently these meters report data. If they can send updates more regularly without draining power, that would be ideal. I’d love to hear from anyone who has successfully integrated their water meter data into Home Assistant or has insights on the best tools or methods to achieve this.

This project has been a great learning experience, and I’m excited to see how it evolves. Let’s keep the discussion going and share our experiences and tips! :star2:
