I’ve recently joined the SmartThings community and purchased the SmartCam HD Pro Outdoor camera for my front porch. It’s been an exciting journey exploring its integration with my SmartThings v2 Hub. Here are some of my findings and questions:
First, I want to confirm whether the camera must be on the same network as the hub. I’ve read that this is a requirement, but I’m using a Wi-Fi extender router that creates a duplicate network. Does this setup pose any issues, or is there a workaround to ensure seamless communication between the camera and the hub?
Another aspect I’m curious about is the ability to display the camera feed continuously on a TV or monitor. I’d love to have a live view of my front porch without constantly checking my phone. Are there any recommended setups or configurations that make this possible?
On a positive note, the camera’s video quality is impressive, and the motion detection feature has been reliable. I’ve also appreciated the ease of setting up basic alerts through the SmartThings app. However, I’m eager to explore more advanced integrations, such as combining the camera’s alerts with other smart devices in my home.
