Integrating SmartSense Motion Sensors with Hubitat: A Success Story

I’ve been on a journey to integrate my old SmartSense Motion sensors with Hubitat, and I’m thrilled to share my success! These sensors have been sitting idle for years, but with a little tinkering, they’re now fully functional in my smart home setup. Here’s how I did it:

Initially, I faced some challenges. The sensors were recognized by Hubitat but didn’t trigger any actions. After some research, I discovered that older Zigbee devices might struggle with certain network channels. I decided to experiment with changing the Zigbee channel on my Hubitat hub to channel 18, a common recommendation for improving compatibility. To my delight, this change made a world of difference!

Now, these sensors are seamlessly integrated into my automation routines. For example, they trigger my security cameras to arm when I leave the house and disarm when I return. It’s incredibly satisfying to see these legacy devices working alongside my newer smart home gadgets.

If you’re dealing with older Zigbee devices that aren’t performing as expected, I highly recommend trying a channel change. It’s a simple fix that can yield big results. Happy tinkering! :rocket:
